Ever since Metal Clay was brought to the community of silver smithing, people
have wanted a way to create intricate textures.
The veneer solution is a new product that was invented by Jay Humphreys and launched at the 2004 PMC conference. The veneer solution may be mixed with the various types of metal clay, then applied to a textured substrate. The resulting dried sheet is not changed so far as silver or gold content or in the firing characteristics. This new form of metal clay may be combined with other metal clay items and fired in conjunction with them. In addition, after firing at 1650 degrees for 2 hours, the veneer sheet may be used to enhance a wide variety of other materials. There are examples on the CD that is included in the veneer kit.
Jay's book , Techniques of Metal Clay Veneer, is soon to be on this web site for purchase .
We hope you have fun creating
new ways of using Metal Clay Veneer.
